"In order to reduce iron losses in non-oriented electrical steels for high-frequency
motors applications, several alloy elements, such as silicon and aluminum etc., have
been added in the steels to lower eddy losses. However, the magnetic flux density of
these sheets seriously drops due to iron fraction reduction and texture change. In this
study, the effects of phosphorus-addition on microstructure and texture have been
investigated by using OM, X-ray, and EBSD analyses. The results indicate that the
texture of steel with phosphorus content is favorable compared with non-P-added
steel. A higher fraction of the Cube texture ( {100}<001> ) has been observed in the
P-added steel, and the {111}<112> component, which is harmful to magnetic
properties can be suppressed after annealing process. These analytic results are
useful in developing high graded non-oriented electrical steels in the future."
