Lubricant property, which is lubricant coating weight, is one of the important functions of the cold heading quality (CHQ) wire. Here, steel surface easily affect the lubricant coating weight. Ferric (Fe3+) ion in acid stimulates resolution of iron, so I guess that the Fe3+ ion would influence the steel surface roughness. Sumitomo Metals Kokura (S. M. K.) investigated as follows; first, the relation between the Fe3+ ion and the steel surface roughness: second, the relation between the steel surface roughness and the zinc phosphate coating weight: third, the stress during extrusion: fourth, the zinc phosphate coating weight after extrusion. As a result, proper addition of Fe3+ ion gives the minute surface roughness and increases the zinc phosphate coating weight.
