PT Latinusa (hereinafter referred to as Latinusa), the only tinplate producer in Indonesia, conducted the revamping project in 2011 which would increase Latinusa’s capacity of production from 130,000 tons to 160,000 tons per year. This project will enable the convergence of the electrolytic tinning system from a soluble to insoluble anode system and the addition of the induction heating reflow system. Such technologies that made such advancement achievable were provided to Latinusa by Nippon Steel Engineering. The Nippon Steel Corporation Group has been the leading pioneer in the field of designing the insoluble anode system; Nippon Steel Engineering, with their one and only proven technology, has been the group’s most reliable supplier. It is needless to say the advantages the insoluble anode system has over the soluble system. After its successful completion in December of 2011, Latinusa was able to achieve their desired production capacity and quality. The insoluble anode system, together with the implementation of highly credited and reliable machinery and equipments drastically improved the tin consumption and the production quality than before. This Latinusa’s Electrolytic Tinning Line (hereinafter referred to as ETL) revamping project proves the insoluble anode system is as essential – vital even, for revamping projects as it is with new construction.
