Natsteel has adopted the Tata Business Excellence Model (TBEM) as a holistic framework for continuous improvement. TBEM covers an organisation’s leadership, strategy, customers and market, performance measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce, work processes and business results. It measures the maturity of an organisation’s processes based on approach, deployment, learning and integration. Results are assessed based on levels, trends, comparisons and breadth. The past two years in TBEM has been a journey of self discovery for the organization. The TBEM criteria act as a checklist of best practices for consideration. Objective assessments by external parties provide a fresh perspective and help weed out blind spots. NatSteel has benefited greatly from the regular TBEM assessments as opportunities for improvement are identified and subsequently acted upon.
