The yearly production of No.2 Steel making plant in Feng-Hsin is about 800,000 tons of good billets, 200,000 tons (25%) of which for commercial (re-bar, structure steel) use, and 600,000 tons (75%) of which for sub-merged casting called special billet (bt) quality (SBQ). SBQ is mainly for downstream customers to do cold heading, hot forging, finishing, and machining parts. For the sake of quality, this CCM was first revamped in the year 2002. The Cu-Tube length was increased from 800 mm to 1,000 mm, and the secondary cooling length from 4.5M to 6M. To make our products more competitive, we started the second revamping in the year 2012. The main items were installed with the extra strand, Program Logic controller (PLC)upgrade, Mould(MD)level detection system upgrade, secondary cooling length increased to 9M with air-mist cooling, hydraulic mould oscillation system, Level 2(L-2) BT evaluation system. After one year of operation, the BT quality has been significantly improved.
