The Study of Lime Consumptions for Making High Phosphor Steel in BOF Of CSC

The main purpose of adding lime in Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) is to make slag for both dephosphorization and desulfurization. However, it seems to be kind of paradox when producing high-[P] but low-[S] steel which desulfurization is still critical. Concerning about cost and environment, a more precise control to reduce the consumption of lime for producing such kind of steel provides advantage to steel maker. This study clarifies the effect of desulfurization with lime consumption and reveals a new possibility and philosophy in cost-saving.
