Abrasive cutting is an ideal technology to increase throughput capacity and flexibility of modern steel mills as well as to substantially improve product quality. Thanks to the development of high-performance abrasive cut-off machines designed for the utilisation of cutting wheels with diameters up to 2000 mm and above, traditional uses in hot or cold cutting of long products in bar mills or after radial forging have been extended to include cutting of ESR and conventionally cast ingots, large forgings from open-die presses and flat products such as slabs or plates.
