Occupational Hygiene Management Information System Development in China Steel Corporation

As workers can be exposed to hazardous materials during steel production, steel company must implement occupational hygiene management plan to protect worker’s health and to fulfill the mission of continuous improvement. In China Steel Corporation (CSC), the management plan includes hazard identification and risk assessment, appointing competent operation supervisor, working environment surveillance and health examination, facilities and operation audit, training and standard operation procedure. In order to improve the management efficiency, CSC built up an integrated hygiene management information system (IS). This system consists of personnel health examination and training, hazardous material and machine handing, working environment surveillance, working procedure and risk management 4 categories and 12 sub-systems totally. This information system not only provides quick and efficient data response, but also provides long term data collection for potential occupational diseases prediction and prevention.
