Increasing of using oil and gas as an energy source has been continuously driven in demand for transmission and distribution pipeline materials in order to achieve safe and economic transportation of oil and gas. Line pipe manufactured with the Submerged-Arc Welding Helical (SAWH) pipe and High Frequency Welding (HFW) pipe currently being used successfully in high pressure service in oil and gas pipeline and has operating safely for many years. The requirements of line pipe become more stringent due to the operating condition (high pressure), gas or oil composition and extreme environmental conditions lead to complex line pipe requirements and good toughness, good weld ability, corrosion resistance and higher strength. This paper presents the latest result on High Strength Low Alloy Steel (HSLA) for use as HFW onshore pipeline API 5L X-52MS for sour service application on Gas Industries.
