Dry systems have been considered as a better solution for BOF gas cleaning because of no need for water treatment and lower energy consumption for 30 years however it is not widely used because of higher maintenance costs and complicated automatic interlocks. Most in operation are OG and new OG wet systems in fact facing with many problems such as huge water treatment investment/operation cost and higher dust emission. Semi-dry systems by Spraying Systems (China) Co., Ltd. successfully apply evaporative cooling technology for revamping OG and new OG systems without need for traditional water treatment or at least 50% decrease; Its operation is as the similarly simple as OG wet systems with much lower dust content at ≤10 mg/Nm3 compared to typically 50-100 mg/Nm3 in all OG and new OG wet systems. The systems are especially suitable for revamping existing OG and new OG wet systems as well as for new projects with minimized Investment and revamping time；Proven payback time is within 6 months. Some actual application cases and key operation results are introduced in this paper.
