The development and the application of vacuum oxygen decarburization (VOD) model which is written in MS Excel spreadsheet is described. The model considers all steps to be conducted on VOD, starting from silicon / aluminum oxidation, decarburization by oxygen blowing, vacuum oxygen decarburization, reduction-mix calculation as well as slag conditioning for desulfurization. The result of model was compared with some industrial data. The model can be used as stand-alone program to simulate the VOD operation as well as for off-line model to guide operator during running of the plant.
