Category - General Novel

A reliable ladle thermal condition prediction throughout steelmaking process is one of the keys elements in designing of the melting process controller that controls a temperature of melted steel, in order to reduce an energy consumption of the process. To fabricate the controlling system, a thermal condition prediction of the whole process has to be applied. In this article, transient heat transfer in uncharged ladle has been investigated to form the model that is capable of simulating changes in temperature of the ladle. The radiation exchanged between the inner surfaces of the ladle is considered by the model. In addition, one dimensional heat transfer is assumed to happen in each wall. By comparing the results generated by the simulation model with the field experimental data, their trends and values are in good agreement with each other
