The design goal of the PTI Swingdoor™ is to eliminate the need for operation personnel to approach the EAF during power on to clear or clean the slag door area. This paper reviews the cost benefits, operational criteria, assumptions and engineering considerations used in the design and implementation of the PTI Swingdoor™.
