With precise controlled technology of chemical composition, China Steel Corporation has successfully developed steel bars and rods with narrow chemical composition range, which can be mixed in use without further grouping by heat number. Moreover, a heat treatment process mode can be applied in this grade steel with narrow composition range instead of the conventional multi-process mode. It results in high productivity and reliable quality of final products. The key point of developing narrow composition steel is the high hitting ratio in steel making process. The technology includes: (a) accurate control of molten steel weight, (b) proper design of steel making process, (c) accurate analysis of chemical composition. Through these technologies, the hitting ratio of chemical composition has been remarkably increased from 70% to 95%.
