Scrap for re-melting still contains a lot of non-ferric elements such as soil,
stones, plastic and non-ferrous metals. All these elements will be
unnecessarily heated up in the melt shop furnace. Scrap cleaning units are
able to drastically reduce the amount of these undesired components. As a
result, the energy consumption for melting the scrap as well as the
consumption of electrodes and lime can be significantly reduced. Accordingly
the yearly steel output rises and expenses reduce, resulting in a short return
of the initial investment in less than one year, sometimes in less than 6
months. Already 6 units have been successfully implemented in South East
Asia, out of which two are being operated in Vietnam.
