"The use of motor occupies a large proportion of the overall electricity consumption in modern society. When the motor efficiency is enhanced, the reduction of electric bills and greenhouse gases emissions will be considerable. Traditionally, we increase silicon or aluminum content in order to reduce the iron loss of the electrical steel and improve the motor efficiency. However, high silicon or aluminum content will not only increase the manufacture difficulty but decrease the magnetic flux density of steel sheet. For the power consumption of motor, besides iron loss, the copper loss also account for a large proportion. If we use high magnetic flux electrical steel, the exciting current and the number of turns will be reduced, thereby the copper loss can be decreased. It is helpful for decreasing motor’s temperature rise, and we can use less iron and copper to get the same amount of magnetic flux. According to the results of our research, flux density can be enhanced by adopting intermediate annealing for hot-rolled band, and decreasing silicon and aluminum content. CSC has developed a series of high magnetic flux electrical steel, such as 50CS600H, 35CS250H etc, which possess the same iron loss but higher flux density, and providing our customers with a better choice."
