Development of API Casting & Tubing Steel in CSC

Recently the demand of oil well tube has increased, therefore, CSC devoted to develop API 5CT pipe steel. In addition to the existed J55 steel grade with HSLA design, K55 steel material with low yield ratio had been developed in 2013 after solving mechanical property variation problem due to higher carbon equivalent. In 2013 and 2014, CSC had developed the heat treatable oil well pipe steels which are typically characterized that the original coil/pipe of J55 grade can be upgraded to N80 or P110 grade after Q/T heat treatment. Pipe grade can be rapidly changed by heat treatment process carried out or not, so it brings much more convenience in product management for pipe plant. By appropriate design of chemical composition and hot-rolled process, CSC has successfully commercialized major API 5CT pipe steels, which could satisfy customers’ requirement and help them cost down.
