Kobe Steel can manufacture high-quality bearing steel which meets customer’s quality requirements. The details are as follows; 1)To reduce non-metallic inclusions by the cleaning of steel during the steel making process. 2)To improve the quality assurance of surface and internal defects during the billet conditioning process. 3)To optimize structure by controlled rolling and cooling technologies during the wire rod mill process. 4)To reduce handling defects by housing into an automated warehouse connected directly to the rolling line. Secondary processes such as pickling, annealing and coating have to be applied to the manufacture of bearing steel. Kobe Steel has secondary processing operations in Japan, the USA and China, and can process various items; for example, annealed wire rod, drawn wire rod and drawn bar. Kobe Steel has acquired the approval to manufacture bearing steel for important bearing parts for automotive use from many bearing companies and maintains a stable supply of products by using the manufacturing technology and the processing techniques. In this seminar, we introduce an outline of the production of high-quality bearing steel from the steel making process to the secondary process.
