Up today a total of eight (8) most modern 3-roll PSM®’s are already installed or under project execution. The great opportunities of the advanced 3-roll technology with the hydraulic adjustment under load feature are inimitable. The adjustment under load feature is opening up new sizing possibilities in most modern wire rod and SBQ production and provides highest process transparency.The achievements and results after implementing the most modern 3-roll Precision Sizing Mill (PSM®) set a new technology standard. The next evolutionary step was the implementation of the MEERgauge®. It is a precise online measuring system which can operate the 3-roll PSM®– independent from the operator.The Technical Control System (TCS) of the PSM® is interacting with precise measuring system and thus able to directly react online under rolling load on real time measured deviations from the target size in fully automatic sizing mode.The advanced 3-roll PSM® as well as the MEERgauge® is introduced in the technical paper. Operational results will underline the outstanding achievements and the great potential of this most modern rolling technology. Recent references are introduced.
