Godo Steel Himeji Works is an electric-arc furnace plant that produces round bars for structural use. It takes a small production amount with variety in sizes and grades according to customer’s demands. Due to the diversity of grade, size, and length for each customer, process control had been very difficult and inefficient, requiring many workers. In order to streamline this complex process, new production control system has been developed. By utilizing this system, integrated control has been achieved, bringing the following effects. (1) reduction of the inventory of semi-finished products, i.e. bloom (2) reduction of the inventory of finished products (3) reduction of labor Efficient process control by minimum number of worker has thus been achieved.
