Siemens VAI received an order from DUNAFERR owned by the Industrial Union of Donbass (IUD), Ukraine, to supply a new hot coil transport system, a continuous pickling line with acid regeneration and a cold reversing mill. The investment is part of IUD’s strategy development program for ISD DUNDAFERR, to become the centre of gravity for flat production by increasing the capacities as well as by attaining an improved and more homogeneous quality of their finished products. The new plant started production in mid of 2008. IUD and Siemens VAI have a long-term partnership in numerous projects, closely worked together on the design of the new plants, with IUD placing special demand on the reliable start-up of the new installations and on long-term protection of its investment. Among the reasons for the contract being awarded to Siemens VAI, the company’s technical and technological competence, its numerous plant references in this field and the security provided by competent long-term support from Siemens VAI were decisive.
