Development of Wire Rod Uniform Cooling Technology at Posco

High-carbon steel is one of the Our leading steel such as Hard wire, Piano wire, Tire cord steel. And due to the increasing demand of these steels, production amount has increased to 70% of wire rod products in 10 years. Also customers should required high strength and low deviation. In this study High-carbon steel recently developed at POSCOR will be introduced. these products are drawn wires which is going through 1st & 2nd drawn process by client and then being produced final product. most important to be considered as quality on drawn wires is TS, tensile strength . Finding the best strength and reducing its deviation are our goal of this study. The results demonstrate that the uniform cooling technology development of wire rod TS deviation was decreased to 20% against the competitors. So, we could guarantee technical capacity equal or higher level compared to our competitors.
