Surface qualities of hot rolled steels are demanded strictly in recent years. Most reject cases of hot rolled products are due to the rolled in scale caused by the inferior Descalability. Even many theories were derived to predict the impact force of descaling according to the nozzle type and pump capacity, the online descalability is still not well defined. In this method, the aluminum plates were eroded by descaling water jets to obtain the erosion pattern. After the analyses of the pattern by 3D scanner, the distribution of the impact force can be estimated. Consequently, the descaling systems are designed to optimize the descalability.
