It is a technical constraint of conventional H-shape production that only one series can be produced by one set of rolls at a time, because inside web height and flange depth cannot be controlled with conventional processes.
So, for example; in order to produce 600x200(JIS), W24x9(ASTM), UB610x229(BS) ,even though they have similar inside web height and flange depth, three sets of rolls are required depending on the size of each cross section.
However, we have broken through this constraint. We call this technology “Flexible universal rolling technology”.
This technology includes three special elements and equipments. Firstly is the free size edging mill for flexible rolling flange depth. Secondly is the skewed rolling mill and the free size finishing mill for flexible rolling inside web height. Finally is the free size roller straightner that has variable barrel length rolls.
The development of this flexible rolling technology has made it possible for us to manufacture a multi-series using only one set of rolls.
Therefore, it has made it possible to make significant roll cost savings and shorten the time of manufacture.
