The cold rolling sector in South East Asia as well as in India and its neighbouring countries requires flexible mill solutions. Therefore the favoured mill concept is the reversing cold mill (RCM). The number of passes and the rolling speed may be freely selected considering the material rolled. Thus mill operators can react very flexibly on customer demands with regard to material, strip thickness as well as slot and coil size. Consequently the reversing mill concept is the perfect answer for rolling of commodity grades and special products and in combination with low investment costs for emergent markets. SMS Siemag offers two reversing mill concepts: the single-stand RCM and the two stand Compact Cold Mill CCM®. Beside the expandability of the RCM to a CCM® the latest development in reversing cold mill technology will be presented, like the CVC® plus M18/4 multipurpose mill.
