Cost-efficient steel production under increasingly stringent quality requirements becomes more demanding in the industry’s current economic environment. Since prices for many steel products are declining or reached very low levels, already, there is great price pressure on the industry’s suppliers. German company IMS Messsysteme GmbH, one of the worldwide leading manufacturers for gauging equipment in the metals industries, listened to the customer’s requests for high-quality, low-price gauging solutions. As a result, a new generation of thickness gauging and width gauging systems with unprecedented cost-performance ratio were developed. These gauging systems maintain the high availability and reproducibility, which IMS’ products are renowned for, to facilitate continuous operation of rolling mills and processing lines. This presentation shows those new technologies’ features for hot and cold strip applications.
