As known to Wire Rod and Round Bar production lines, Tungsten Carbide Roll makes it possible to manufacture the smooth and excellent surface finish and stability in dimension of rolled products particularly with its long life and high performance. TaeguTec has recently developed its own unique clamping mechanism and is able to provide tungsten carbide composite rolls appropriate for intermediate lines with high rolling torque and pressure. Since side and internal compression alone can’t prevent the possible risk of tungsten carbide ring slippage, additional key and key way play a role in delivering such a high torque. The core of this structure is reducing tensile stress which causes ring breakage and changing it into compressive stress. Therefore, each part and their shapes were optimally designed through FEA to withstand extreme pressure. Furthermore, before composite roll design, rolling conditions are received first from customers, and the rolling torque is checked through simulation. Then, accordingly optimal clamping structure is applied to the design of composite rolls. In the simulation process, the cause of ring breakage such as improper speed between stands is sometimes identified, and rolling conditions are improved based on this kind of feedback. Also, new rolls with high quality and cutting tools for redressing are provided overall through various experiences. The main focus of this topic is the excellent mechanism of Tungsten carbide composite roll provided by TaeguTec, suitable solution necessary for redressing of rolling rings, and introduction of high-tech cutting tools and knife needed to steel industries.
