Optimal Design of Flatness Control of Six-High Single-Stand Cold Rolling Mill

In this paper, the key control model for cold rolling, i.e., the so-called flatness control system for six-high single-stand cold rolling mills is investigated deeply and an optimal design is obtained. The overall flatness control system consists of the sub-system of flatness signal measuring and processing and the sub-system of multivariable optimum control. The former includes several compensation modules for compensating measuring errors, and the latter with self-learning function can swiftly work out the optimal control outputs through online calculation for the control mechanisms, such as roll skewing device and roll bending device. All the above models are simulated by using Matlab simulation software to validate the effectiveness and optimality of the proposed approaches. More importantly, the superiority of the key control technology has been proved in some industrial applications.
