Publisher - Kobe Steel, Ltd.

Category - General Novel

The oxygen blowing lance and powder injection lance are applied in the Hot Metal Pretreatment Furnace (H-Furnace) of Kobe Works for dephosphorization and desulfurization. A large amount of mill scale is added to molten iron in the dephosphorization process for the purpose of not only dephosphorizaton but also to increase the amount of iron. However, increasing iron slopping forms slag which includes hot metal, and decreasing iron yield. In order to agitate hot metal and molten slag more strongly and reduce the slopping slag volume, bubbling nozzles were installed on the bottom of the H-Furnace. This report introduces a study of effect of lance injection and bottom bubbling on iron yield in the H-Furnace.
